I am a Speech-Language Pathologist in Central Alberta and a mother of 3. My oldest son is 20 and has been diagnosed with DCD since he was 7. A few years ago I decided to start a Facebook group about DCD –
Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) Alberta. It is a public group and is described as « Info and support for families of children with DCD. Comments, questions, successes, frustrations welcome! ». The group now has 32 members and I would love to see that number grow – as more people become aware of DCD, the more need there is a for a place where we can share our experiences, ideas, and resources to support people with DCD and their families. One of my favorite websites is www.understood.org – there are lots of great resources on it and it also addresses many other issues that people with DCD have, for example, ADHD and executive function difficulties.
